چکیده

Abstract Gully erosion affects the landscape and human life in many ways, including destruction of agricultural land infrastructures, altering hydraulic potential soils, as well water availability. Due to climate change, more areas are expected be affected by gully future, threatening especially low-income regions. In past decades, quantitative methods have been proposed simulate predict at different scales. However, is still underrepresented modern GIS-based modeling simulation approaches. Therefore, this study aims develop a QGIS plugin using Python assess dynamics. We explain preparation input data, procedure based on Sidorchuk’s (Sidorchuk A (1999) Dynamic static models erosion. CATENA 37:401–414.) model, perform detailed sensitivity analysis model parameters. The uses topographical soil characteristics discharge information input. was tested network KwaThunzi, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. results analyses confirm Sidorchuck’s earlier observations that critical runoff velocity main controlling parameter evolution, alongside with slope stability threshold erodibility coefficient. implemented simplifies setup, post-processing visualization modelling results. provided data formats visualized 3D software tools. This enables comprehensive assessment derivation respective coping mitigation strategies.

FloodRisk: a QGIS plugin for flood consequences estimation

In times of increasing disaster losses, the reduction (or mitigation) of consequences of natural hazard needs to be effective and efficient. An in-depth understanding of the effects of disasters, is required in order to develop forms of sustainable risk management as well as risk mitigation and adaptation strategies (Directive 2007/60/CE; IPCC, 2012). This is especially true given the limited f...

LecoS - A QGIS plugin for automated landscape ecology analysis

The quantification of landscape structures is an important part in many ecological analysis dealing with GIS derived satellite data. This paper introduces a new free and open-source tool for conducting landscape ecology analysis. LecoS is able to compute a variety of basic and advanced landscape metrics in an automatized way by iterating through an optional provided vector layer. It is integrat...

Gully Erosion after Wildfire

Predicting runoff and erosion from watersheds burned by wildfires requires an understanding of the spatial structure of both hillslope and channel drainage networks. We investigate the small-scale and large-scale structures of drainage networks using field studies and computer analysis of 30-m digital elevation model. Topologic variables were derived from a composite 30-m DEM, which included 14...

The Gully Erosion Effect On the Environment

The paper contains data about the destructive effects of gully erosion on the environment. It provides general information about the gully erosion in several countries around the world including Romania and is considered a case study for a river basin located in the Semenic Mountains (Bârzava drainage area). The case study is based on the following assumptions: the presence of different types o...
